Kleine Hamheide, 26125 Oldenburg

Other than the Großer Bornhorster See, the Kleiner Bornhorster See in the landscape protection area "Oldenburg-Rasteder Geestrand" is suitable for swimming. The wide sandy beach is monitored by DLRG rescue experts during the season so that you don’t have to worry about your safety. The water quality of the lake is being checked on a regular basis and was recently rated as "Very Good". Those who crave a relaxing barbecue session after a hard day of swimming can make use of the barbecue grill provided by the City of Oldenburg.

Bekhauser Esch 170, 26180 Rastede

The famous Beachclub Nethen is the place to be in summer - it offers a beautiful sandy beach, a kids' playground, a dog beach as well as water ski and wakeboard facilities. It's the perfect spot for families! Whether you like being active or enjoy relaxing at the beach café with a drink in your hand - the beach club is the perfect spot for you.

Beachclub Nethen also hosts events and offers lovely atmosphere for all types of corporate events, private parties and even festivals, like the annual Oldenbora Open Air Festival.

Klostermark, 26135 Oldenburg

The artificially constructed lake, which was created during the construction work for the highway A29, offers a wonderful opportunity to cool down on hot summer days. Since the deepest parts of the lake measure up to 17 m depth, the Blankenburger See is also a very popular spot for divers. Due to the nature reserve, which covers the entire west bank and the north bank up to the large bay, the lake is not only wonderfully clear, but also pleasantly calm. Around the water, pure nature can be enjoyed as it is wonderfully green and idyllic.

Moorweg 1, 26203 Wardenburg

Westerholter See in Wardenburg is about a 25-minute drive from Oldenburg. The lake offers an approximately 130 m long sandy beach and is equipped with a volleyball court. Sports fans who want to play should be there on time, especially when the weather is good, because the spot is extremely popular. A snack bar and sanitary facilities can also be found at the lake.

Tip: Fortunately, there is enough free space at Westerholter See for stress-free parking. However, you should pack some small change if you arrive by car – the parking lot costs a fee.

Voßbarweg 22, 26670 Uplengen

The Großsander leisure center is located directly on the Großsander bathing lake and offers everything you could ask for. The 16-hectare lake has a separate non-swimmer area and guarantees bathing fun for young and old. There is a pedal boat rental, a giant water slide, a beach volleyball court, a playground and opportunities for surfing, fishing, diving and hiking at Großsander leisure center. Last but not least, there’s also a snack bar as well as sanitary facilities and visitors are supervised by the DLRG during the summer months from May to September.

The entrance fee for a day is 1€, for a month – 5€. Children under four can visit free of charge.
