What you need to know about our FSC-certified packaging

FSC stands for "Forest Stewardess Council" and it’s an international certification system for more sustainable forest management. FSC certifies forests and plantations that are managed under stricter ecological and social principles. This is intended to help preserve forests in the long term. You can find the FSC symbol on wood and paper products. These include furniture, toys, books and pencils - but also packagings, like the one we use at BODDELS!

The FSC organization was founded in 1993 in Toronto, Canada on the initiative of environmental and human rights organizations and forest owners from 26 different countries. The aim of the organization is to create a worldwide understanding and global principles for sustainable forestry. A system that can guarantee responsibly produced wood for the consumer. Responsibly means that no more wood is felled than the forest can produce.

Accordingly, the following principles are guaranteed:

1. People working in the forest are guaranteed training, safety equipment, a decent salary and the right to participate in a labor union.
2. Local people benefit from the income from the forest and local labor is used.
3. Consideration is given to indigenous people who have used the forest in the past. Sacred areas or hunting grounds are spared.
4. Protection also applies to animals and plants. Forests in which protected animal or plant species are native, are fully protected.

Our paper packaging is not yet available for all of our products – however we’re working on implementing it for our whole range. At the moment, the following BODDELS products come in the packaging: the SUND glass carafe, the DREE glass bottle, the SEEV tea mug, the KOFFJe vacuum mug and some versions of the TWEE bottle.
